Uses:-
Telmisartan 40mg + Amlodipine 5mg is a combination medication used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). It contains two active ingredients:
- Telmisartan (40mg): Telmisartan belongs to a class of drugs called angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs). It works by blocking the action of angiotensin II, a substance in the body that causes blood vessels to narrow, thus relaxing blood vessels and lowering blood pressure.
- Amlodipine (5mg): Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker. It works by relaxing and widening the blood vessels, making it easier for the heart to pump blood and lowering blood pressure.
Side Effects:-
Common side effects of Telmisartan 40mg + Amlodipine 5mg may include dizziness, headache, swelling in the ankles or feet, flushing, and stomach upset. Telmisartan may cause side effects such as dizziness, low blood pressure, or hyperkalemia (high potassium levels). Amlodipine may cause side effects such as ankle swelling, flushing, or palpitations. Serious side effects such as difficulty breathing, chest pain, or irregular heartbeat should be reported to a doctor promptly.
Indication:-
Telmisartan 40mg + Amlodipine 5mg is indicated for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) in patients who require both angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) and calcium channel blocker therapy for optimal blood pressure control. It may be prescribed alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents.
