Uses:-
Sacubitril and Valsartan tablets are used to treat heart failure. This combination medication contains two active ingredients: sacubitril and valsartan. Sacubitril belongs to a class of drugs called neprilysin inhibitors, while valsartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). Together, they work by improving heart function and reducing the risk of hospitalization and death in patients with heart failure.
Side Effects:-
- Hypotension (Low Blood Pressure): One common side effect of sacubitril and valsartan is low blood pressure, which can cause dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting, especially when standing up quickly. It’s important to rise slowly from a sitting or lying position to minimize this risk.
- Hyperkalemia (High Potassium Levels): This medication can sometimes lead to high levels of potassium in the blood, which may cause symptoms such as weakness, confusion, irregular heartbeat, or numbness. Regular monitoring of potassium levels is necessary.
- Kidney Impairment: Sacubitril and valsartan may affect kidney function, particularly in patients with pre-existing kidney disease. Your doctor will monitor your kidney function regularly while you are taking this medication.
- Cough: Some people may experience a dry cough while taking sacubitril and valsartan, although this is less common compared to ACE inhibitors. If the cough becomes bothersome, consult your doctor.
- Angioedema: In rare cases, sacubitril and valsartan can cause swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat (angioedema), which can be life-threatening. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any signs of angioedema.
- Renal Impairment: This medication may cause a decrease in kidney function, particularly in patients with severe heart failure or renal artery stenosis. Your doctor will monitor your kidney function closely.
Indication:-
Sacubitril and Valsartan tablets are indicated for the treatment of heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) in adults. They help to improve symptoms, exercise tolerance, and reduce the risk of heart failure-related hospitalizations.
