Side Effects:-
- Hypoglycemia: While linagliptin itself does not usually cause low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), it can occur when linagliptin is used in combination with other diabetes medications like insulin or sulfonylureas. Symptoms of hypoglycemia include sweating, shakiness, dizziness, hunger, and confusion.
- Pancreatitis: Linagliptin has been associated with an increased risk of pancreatitis. Symptoms of pancreatitis include severe and persistent abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. If these symptoms occur, it is crucial to seek medical attention immediately.
- Allergic Reactions: Some people may experience allergic reactions to linagliptin, such as rash, itching, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat. Severe allergic reactions can lead to difficulty breathing and require immediate medical attention.
- Nasopharyngitis: A common side effect of linagliptin is nasopharyngitis, which includes symptoms like a runny or stuffy nose and sore throat. These symptoms are generally mild and tend to resolve on their own.
- Arthralgia: Joint pain (arthralgia) has been reported in some patients taking linagliptin. If joint pain becomes severe or persistent, patients should consult their healthcare provider.
