Uses:-
Teneligliptin 20mg is an oral medication used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus. It belongs to a class of drugs known as DPP-4 inhibitors (dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors). By inhibiting the DPP-4 enzyme, Teneligliptin helps increase the levels of incretin hormones, which in turn boost insulin release and reduce glucose production in the liver. This dual action helps control blood sugar levels, especially after meals, and is often prescribed when diet, exercise, and other diabetes medications are not sufficiently effective.
Side Effects:-
- Hypoglycemia: When taken alone, Teneligliptin typically does not cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). However, when combined with other antidiabetic drugs like sulfonylureas or insulin, the risk of hypoglycemia increases. Symptoms include dizziness, sweating, shakiness, and confusion.
- Gastrointestinal Issues: Some patients may experience mild gastrointestinal side effects, such as nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. These effects are generally temporary and tend to improve over time.
- Headache: Headaches can occur as a side effect of Teneligliptin. Patients should report persistent or severe headaches to their healthcare provider.
- Allergic Reactions: Allergic reactions, although rare, can happen. Symptoms may include rash, itching, swelling, and difficulty breathing. Immediate medical attention is necessary if an allergic reaction is suspected.
- Nasopharyngitis: Some patients may develop upper respiratory tract infections, such as the common cold. Symptoms include sore throat and runny nose.
Indication:-
Teneligliptin 20mg is indicated for adults with type 2 diabetes who require additional control of their blood sugar levels. It can be used alone or in combination with other diabetes medications, such as metformin, sulfonylureas, or thiazolidinediones. It is particularly effective for patients who experience significant postprandial (after meals) blood sugar spikes.
